The January 2014 Daring Bakers' challenge was hosted by Francijn of "Koken in de Brouwerij". She challenged us all to bake layered cakes in the tradition of Baumkuchen (tree cake) and Schichttorte (layered cake).

December 2013!
The December Daring Bakers' Challenge had us all cheering - the lovely and talented Bourbonnatrix of Bourbonnatrix Bakes was our hostess and challenged us to make fun, delicious and creative whoopie pies! Delicious little cake-like cookies sandwiching luscious filling in any flavors we chose... What else is there to say but "Whoopie!"
I made gingerbread whoopie pies with a vanilla buttercream filling and some candied ginger in between.

November 2013! Sfogliatelle
Sandie of the lovely blog, Crumbs of Love, was our November hostess. Sandie challenged us to make a traditional Italian dessert, along with its American version – Sfogliatelle (or better known in the US – lobster tails!) The flakey, 1000 layers of super thin dough, shaped into a horn and filled with a scrumptious filling. Così buono!

August 2013!!
Aparna of My Diverse Kitchen was our August 2013 Daring Bakers’ hostess and she challenged us to make some amazing regional Indian desserts. The Mawa Cake, the Bolinhas de Coco cookies and the Masala cookies – beautifully spiced and delicious!
I made the Mawa cake and bolinhas de coco cookies. The cake turned out fairly well, though a little burnt. The cookies were more like shortcake in texture and didn't turn out as I would have liked. This could be due to the fact that I had to use semolina flour as opposed to just semolina. I made them a little better with a cardamom glaze.

July 2013: Challenge Remake
In a "celebration" of past Daring Baker and Daring Cook challenges, Lisa challenged all of us to search through the Daring Kitchen archives and pick any one we'd like! The REAL challenge was picking which delicious recipe(s) to try!
Though I wanted to try a new recipes, my mother was practically on her knees begging me to remake the delicious Gevulde Speculaas. It turned out just as sweet and delicious as before, and I am very content with my choice!

June 2013... Pie
Rachael from pizzarossa was our lovely June 2013 Daring Bakers’ host and she had us whipping up delicious pies in our kitchens! Cream pies, fruit pies, chocolate pies, even crack pies! There’s nothing like pie!
These are a few pies I've made in the past... one is an apple double crust, one is peaches and berries, one is peach cardamom, one is apple, and the last is cherry
